Welcome to Portrush Medical Centre

The doctors and staff at Portrush Medical Centre are proud to offer the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare. We run many clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes and offer a wide variety of other medical services including antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups.

In addition to everything you need to know about the practice you will also find a wealth of health-related information in the menu on the right hand side. Please have a look around and do send us some feedback if you like.

To help reduce the potential spread of infection, all patients must contact the surgery by telephone first and can only attend in person if instructed by a GP or Nurse. In this instance the patient will remain in their car with their mobile telephone and only enter the premises when called to do so by the nurse.

For urgent medical concerns please ring and speak to a receptionist. When you ring us, our staff will ask you some questions to determine your condition. Some of these questions may include if you have a temperature or a cough. These questions help us to determine the best action to take but also helps protect our staff and other vulnerable patients.

If appropriate, you may receive a call back from a GP or be given other relevant advice.

If you need a repeat prescription please telephone the surgery on 02870829558 or use our online ordering service. You must nominate a Pharmacy to collect your prescription - do not attend the surgery to collect in person.

If you require a Sickline please send in a SAE and we will endeavour to issue and return to you as soon as possible.

If you already have an appointment please telephone in advance for advice as to whether your appointment is still going ahead.

Further advice regarding Coronovirus can be obtained from the Public Health Agency Website

Stay at home to stop coronavirus spreading

Everyone must stay at home to help stop the spread of coronavirus.

This includes people of all ages – even if you do not have any symptoms or other health conditions.

You can only leave your home:

  • to shop for basic essentials – only when you really need to
  • to do one form of exercise a day – such as a run, walk or cycle, alone or with other people you live with
  • for any medical need – for example, to visit a pharmacy or deliver essential supplies to a vulnerable person
  • to travel to and from work – but only where this is absolutely necessary

What to do if you have coronavirus symptoms

Continue to stay at home if you have either:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

To protect others, do not go to places like a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. Stay at home.

Use the 111 online coronavirus service to find out what to do.

Only call 111 if you cannot get help online.
